The recently renovated Veli bej spa is a real pearl in Budapest. The architectural design is very nice with careful attention to detail and arrangement of spaces as well. See pictures below:
The spa is in the Hospital area, this way the access a little bit tricky. The spa entrance can be found next to main road beside the Danube, not at the other side as the address suggests. The spa located approximately 400m from the Margaret bridge at Buda side behind a parking, after the park. The Spa entrance not signed in the hospital building, just an advertisement can be found at the top of the Building. Below picture can be seen the spa building facade.
After entering the building at the right entrance, should turn leftwards, and after the second corridor at right side leads to the Spa cashdesks. The buildings next to main road adjacent to Danube from Margaret bridge comes this order: Lukacs spa behind the Park (long yellow building), a white building with “HILD UDVAR” signage on it, Veli bej spa in the Hospital building, Komjati Swimmingpool.
In the past a Turkish spa has been existed in the place. The Veli bej spa located just between the Lukács spa and the Komjáti swimmingpool. The Octogonal pool under the Turkish dome is the main attraction of the place. For Hungarians, who all read books like Stars of Eger from Géza Gárdonyi in their childhood, about the Turkish invasion, sitting in a historic places like this is very interesting. The Turkish invaded Hungary in 16th century (Buda invasion was in 1541 where they calculated the period of approximately 150 years Turkish presence in Budapest) and stay here until 1686-1699 when Buda was recaptured with the help of the Habsburgs.
